The Salwa Sandy Nahlous Chamma Memorial Fund

born February 1, 1950 Lebanon

Sandy Nahlous Chamma was one of the most extraordinary human beings who has ever lived. She brought joy to all of those who knew her with a contagious smile, easy laughter, and well timed joke. She was a force of nature at four foot eight, and her impact on the community in which she lived was shown by the hundreds of mourners at her funeral service.

But Sandy’s life was not always easy, and her story is one of strength, generosity and perseverance…

Sandy was born in Lebanon, but was educated in Ghana. Her life as an immigrant was not easy, and she had to fight for every opportunity she could get, always dreaming of a better life in a safe place.

Sandy’s Flowers

She was up to the challenge though, and through hard work, fierce intelligence, and her trademark sense of humor, she achieved the American dream. She built a beautiful life at the end of her migration, in the United States. As she began her life anew again, she created Sandy’s Flowers, a successful business that brought her independence, success, and allowed her to be truly generous with her family and friends.

The fund

We have created her memorial fund to honor this legacy; to provide opportunities and safety for young migrants just like she once was. Through this fund, Salwa can continue to be a force for change and generosity, even as she rests in peace. She is not done making the world a safer, happier place to be, and we hope that through the charitable donations in her name, she will never truly be gone.
