UNACOMPANIED FOREIGN MINORS
Although the figures vary greatly depending on which source is consulted, we can say that every year several thousand children arrive in Spain alone, without their parents or guardians. Approximately a third of them are in Andalusia. They come looking for a safe place to live, to learn and to grow up in peace. They are known as MENA, an acronym for Menores Extranjeros No Acompañados.
When they turn 18 and leave the Child Protection System, they are left in a situation of maximum vulnerability. Since the inception of DPC, one of our primary objectives has been to address this situation to the best of our ability.
WHO DO WE HELP?
There are many migrants who exhaust the institutional resources available to them without having been able to achieve the desired autonomy. At DPC we focus on each life history to generate assistance aimed at achieving socio-labor and psycho-emotional independence compatible with each situation.
Volunteering: a mutual benefit
At DPC we consider the relationship of volunteering as a mutual benefit for both parties involved. Therefore, we promote volunteer opportunities not only thinking of the migrant population (aid projects) but also the host community (awareness-raising projects).
Our most relevant programs and projects
Starfish
Constructing person by person: an open proposal for inclusion
From STARFISH, with an integral and personalized criterion, far from paternalistic and assistance-based views, we opt for a type of intervention that enhances the capacities of the people we accompany (migrant children who come of age). We put a lot of interest in providing them with broad, varied and solid support networks. We encourage mentoring as a tool for building consistent social bonds. We value sport as a means of integration.

In this way, we are able to satisfy not only basic needs, but also at develop and strengthen a capacity for reflection and, critical spirit that allows them to make the best decisions.
We are currently accompanying several young people from Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa. A Social Worker collaborates with DPC to provide this accompaniment and personalized follow-up.
Raindrops
Constructing drop by drop: an Intercultural learning proposal
The objective of RAINDROPS is to raise awareness in a comprehensive way based on participatory learning for all students, teachers and parents. To this end, it is important to visualize and give a new meaning to multiculturalism in a context of relevant change concerning the arrival and residence of people from other countries and cultures. In this way, we create a space for collective and interactive communication and dialogue between the new generations in their process of assimilation and learning and the socialization agents.

The content has been developed by a team of Educational and Social Work professionals together with other collaborators to achieve a lasting impact.
The young people of the STARFISH project help us to educate boys and girls in different schools. We are very proud of that!
Donations to DPC make it easier for RAINDROPS to grow to include more schools, which means that hundreds of children and young people can develop empathy NOW.

Constructing word by word: a positive communication proposal
Through the MIGRATIONS+ Project, we invite you to collaborate with any positive+ communication about migrations. We invite you to provide us with texts, images or other communicative elements so that we can disseminate them through our social networks and in particular through our newsletter.
What do we mean by positive + communication?
At DPC we aim to do our bit –word by word– to generate the positive meaning that migration deserves. We believe in a type of communication that, paying attention and feeling curiosity for similarities and differences, considers both the unique existence of “the other” and our own. We work to configure a space in which different types of beings can coexist and relate in the same world.

DPC Think Tank
Constructing idea by idea: a creative proposal for a transcultural society
The DPC THINK TANK is constituted as an action-research group made up of a series of diverse and creative people who propose – from intercultural and transcultural perspectives – strategic interventions and actions to achieve the integration and equality of migrants with mutual benefits for the people of the fostering society.
This long-term strategy is necessary to prepare, in particular, for the arrival of hundreds of children who reach Spain alone each year and, in general, for the arrival of all migrants.
We think that there is no time to wait for great solutions to our migratory situation!

Vulcano DPC
Constructing advice by advice: an open road to regularization
Our project “Vulcano DPC” offers administrative advice to migrants in procedures related to Immigration Law, including the response to requirements and administrative appeals that may be necessary.
The service is provided through face-to-face attention ALWAYS BY APPOINTMENT in the space DPC has in the center of Seville. It is open to the entire community of migrants in Seville and surrounding areas who need it.
Celebrate & donate
Constructing one event at a time: a solidarity proposal for civil society
Generosity is contagious and a small gesture of solidarity can change the lives of many people!
Our dear Colette gave us the idea for this initiative. She came up with the idea of celebrating her birthday by asking her friends to donate money to DPC instead of gifts. Following her example, Lucas, a little hero without a cape, also made his birthday present a donation. Marta, one of our collaborators, celebrated a very original wedding, making that special moment, together with her partner Sergio, the opportunity to make a financial contribution to our organization.
Would you like to CELEBRATE AND DONATE?
We invite you to live your special dates and events in a different way. The possibilities are enormous: birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, galas, cultural or sporting events and everything you can imagine! If anything you have read so far resonates inside you, perhaps you would like to follow the example of Colette, Lucas and Marta.
Your donation will allow us to continue helping educating empowering
All DPC activities are financed with private money. This gives us more freedom to decide which projects to support.
All contributions go to the projects mentioned in a direct and impactful way. We are a small group of committed volunteers. Your donations provide us with valuable help in managing the material and human resources necessary to achieve our objectives: to help young migrants have a decent future and to contribute toward a peaceful society.
If you want to donate your time, we invite you to join our network of collaborators and volunteers.

We work toward the integration into society of unaccompanied foreign minors who come of age.
