“Kone’s Story”: an awareness-raising event organized by Uprooted Theater

Recently, our friends at Uprooted Theater hosted the event “Kone’s Story: A Conversation About Migration and Integration,” where Kone, a young migrant supported by the Starfish Program, was invited to share his experiences of migration and inclusion. Thanks to the skillful moderation of Niko De León, the activity became a fascinating dialogue about the challenges of migration and the essential role that host communities play in fostering inclusion.

Kone spoke about his journey since leaving his home country, Ivory Coast, and about the entire process of building a new life in Spain. His daily experience reflects both challenges and major accomplishments—particularly his achievements as an athlete and his professional growth. His story was listened to with great attention and respect by everyone present.

Niko and Kone

Kone has always been a dedicated collaborator in our Raindrops Program, which promotes various awareness-raising initiatives like those developed by our friends at Uprooted Theater.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Randa, Emily, and Jenny for organizing this event, to Niko De León for guiding the conversation with Kone, and to everyone in this amazing community of artists.

As always, we deeply admire the courage of migrants like Kone who share their stories with such honesty and strength! We hope that conversations like this continue to grow and multiply, as they are invaluable in breaking down discrimination and xenophobia.
