Joining forces to prevent Hate Crimes: meeting between Diálogos Para Construir and Movimiento contra la Intolerancia in Seville

On January 21, Diálogos Para Construir held a meeting with a representative of Movimiento contra la Intolerancia in Seville, with the aim of sharing the work carried out by both organizations and exploring potential joint actions to address hate crimes and situations of discrimination.

Movimiento contra la Intolerancia (Movement Against Intolerance) is a nationwide association that actively works against racism, xenophobia, LGBTIphobia, and all forms of hate crimes. For more than 30 years, the organization has promoted coexistence, human rights, and solidarity, addressing the impact of intolerance on society through a comprehensive approach.

During the meeting, both organizations shared experiences related to supporting individuals from groups that are particularly vulnerable to discrimination. This exchange made it possible to identify several opportunities for collaboration, including:

  • Joint actions to identify and support victims of hate crimes and discrimination.
  • Coordinated support for people from migrant communities who, depending on their situation, may benefit from the resources offered by both organizations.
  • Collaboration on training activities for the general public on how to respond to hate crimes, both as victims and as witnesses.
  • The dissemination of information and awareness-raising content through digital channels.

Movimiento contra la Intolerancia has an extensive network and a wide range of educational materials, awareness campaigns, and informational resources for supporting victims. To learn more about their work, you can visit their website HERE

Our experience supporting the migrant community shows that many people continue to face discrimination in key areas for inclusion, such as access to housing and employment, among others. These barriers not only violate fundamental rights but also seriously hinder processes of social integration and personal autonomy. In this context, it is essential that organizations committed to raising awareness, reporting, and preventing discriminatory practices exist, as well as actively defending the rights of those affected.

At Diálogos Para Construir, we see networking and collaboration as a key opportunity to provide more comprehensive support from a unique and people-centered perspective. For this reason, we are grateful for the visit from Movimiento contra la Intolerancia in Seville and for the opportunity to join forces in such vital work as preventing hate crimes and combating discrimination.
